BEAUMONT, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team got their spring season underway Monday at UC Riverside's Lady Braveheart Challenge at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. Through the first 18 holes, the Broncos are in 10th place in the 17 team field with 18 holes to play tomorrow.

The Broncos contingent of Jamie Nonaka, Ella Sanman, Jennifer Sun, Samantha Trask and Corey Utsurogi had a tough day on the greens. Nonaka currently leads the Broncos and is tied for 18th individually after shooting a first round of 80. Utsurogi and Sun are right behind, having shot 81 and 82, respectively. Sanman finished with an 84, and Trask shot an uncharacteristic 89.

"The last two years we've finished third at this tournament," said head coach Polly Schulze. "We just didn't put it together today. But we are workin on our putting and are going to come out strong tomorrow."

The Broncos will conclude the Lady Braveheart Challenge Tuesday morning, February 13, a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m.
