Broncos Finish Tied For 11th At Kitihara Fresno State Invitational

FRESNO, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team concluded the Kitihara Fresno State Invitational at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif. Tuesday, shooting a combined 307, their best single team round of the season, to hold their position in 11th place.

Megan Stoddart bounced back from a tough first round and knocked off seven strokes, shooting a final round of 75. Jennifer Sun was able to trim four strokes off to finish with a 76, and Jamie Nonaka came in three strokes better in her final round 78. Corey Utsurogi hit a rough stretch after making the turn but also finished with a final round 78. Samantha Trask sunk two birdies on the back nine to finish with an 82.

"This is a huge success for us," said head coach Polly Schulze. "We were ranked 17th out of 17 teams coming into this tournament. It was the strongest field that we've been up against yet."

Tuesday's round saw the team finish with their best combined round of the season,  307.

The Broncos will get to play in the Bay Area next week as they take part in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational on Monday, March 5 and Tuesday, March 6 at the Almaden Country Club in San Jose, Calif.
