Trask's 71 Leads Broncos To 12th Place Finish At Peg Barnard California Collegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Santa Clara women's golf team turned in a much improved performance in their second round at the Peg Barnard California Collegiate, shooting a final round combined total of 306, 22 strokes better than Friday, to finish in 12th place. Samantha Trask once again led the Broncos with an final round 71, finishing tied for 13th individually.

"We improved quite a bit today," said head coach Polly Schulze. "I'm really proud of our team and they way they played as we head into conference."

For the Broncos, it was their best team round of the season. The event was extra special for Trask, whose season-best round of 71 (E) came in front of a huge gallery of screaming fans. Hilaire Fouts also shot a season-best 73 (+2), just two strokes behind Trask, and 11 strokes better than her first round 84. Freshman Jamie Nonaka matched her first round 82, while Corey Utsurogi knocked five strokes off her first round with a final round 80, and Megan Stoddart came in with an 84.

A week from Monday, on April 16, Santa Clara will be in Lompoc, Calif. for the WCC Championships.
