SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Santa Clara Women's Golf began play in the San Jose State Spartan Invitational finishing 13th after their first two rounds of play. Freshman Jamie Nonaka from Haleiwa, Hawaii, turned in the team's lowest scores, shooting rounds of 79 and 77.

It was Nonaka's first ever 36-hole day, and she performed superbly, sinking six birdies. Other low scores came from Corey Utsurogi with a first round 77, and Samantha Trask with a first round 76. Jennifer Sun and Megan Stoddart rounded out the Santa Clara contingent. Erin Sullivan played as well, but was the extra woman on the squad and participated without a team affiliation.

"Our low score came from Jamie Nonaka, our little freshman," Schulze said. "It was her first time ever playing a 36 hole day, and she was our low scorer. We are definitely playing better and progressing towards conference. We hadn't played a 36-hole day since we were up in Boise back in October, so we were trying to get in the flow. I would have liked us to to a little better in round two, but it's very good that we are under 320."

The Broncos continue with the Invitational tomorrow looking for a better round of scores overall.

"We'll just keep progressing forward and look to come in under 310 tomorrow." said, Schulze.
