Santa Clara (8-34; 2-8 PCSC) was held scoreless in the opener and was without a run until they needed it most in Game Two. Trailing 1-0 in the top of the seventh, Kelly Scribner was hit by a pitch and Briana Knight was able to single, moving the tying run down to third before Jordan Newell evened the game with a sac fly to right field.

San Diego (21-13; 8-2 PCSC) was having a hard time generating any offense off SCU junior starter Carissa Theis, scoring just one run in the sixth inning of Game Two to inch ahead 1-0 before Newell tied it at one and eventually sent the game into extra frames.

With Game Two still tied 1-1 in the 10th, Alyssa Jepsen put SCU in front 2-1 with an RBI-single up the middle. Jepsen and teammate Breezy Bernard led all Broncos Saturday with three hits off San Diego's pitching staff, which is tops in the PCSC.

However, it was the Toreros offense that would give USD the sweep. RBI-doubles by Jessica Tieszen and Chloe Kaneko fueled the comeback bid, Kaneko's drive being the game-winner. Kaneko enjoyed an impressive day, which included going 5 for 9 between the two games with five RBI and both go-ahead hits.

The series will continue with a doubleheader Sunday. Game One will begin at 9 a.m. with Game Two following shortly thereafter.
