Baseball Announces 2018 Schedule

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball released its 2018 schedule featuring games against four teams that qualified for the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Broncos first-year head coach Rusty Filter made the announcement.

Among the 53 regular-season games, 27 will be played at home in Stephen Schott Stadium and 26 on the road. The Broncos play 11 games against four teams, Wake Forest, Sacramento State, Stanford and BYU that competed in post-season competition one season ago.  They are among the 26 nonconference games.

The 2018 season opens on Feb.16 against Atlantic Coast Conference's Boston College for a three game series.

The season opening series is followed by its first road game at San José State on Feb. 20 as part of a home-and-home series against the Spartans.  SJSU comes to Schott Stadium on April 10.

The next nine games are back at home for the longest home stand of the season welcoming the likes of Wake Forest (Feb.23-25), Nevada (Feb.27), Utah (March 2-4) and Sacramento State (March 8-9).

Santa Clara then goes to Sacramento to finish its four game series against the Hornets (March 10-11), followed by one game against UC Davis (March 13) before opening West Coast Conference play.

The Broncos travel to San Diego (March 16-18) to start the 27 game WCC season.  Santa Clara plays three game series against each of the nine other conference teams, hosting Saint Mary's (March 23-25), Portland (March 29-31), Pepperdine (April 13-15) and Loyola Marymount (May 11-13) while travelling to San Diego, BYU (April 5-7), San Francisco (April 27-29), Pacific (May 4-6) and Gonzaga (May 18-20).

Midweek games include UC-Davis, Nevada, Stanford, Cal Poly, Cal and San José State with a weekend series against Washington State (April 20-22).

Fifteen of the last 19 games will be on the road before the WCC Conference tournament.  Pacific will host the 2018 WCC Conference Championship from May 24-26 with only the top-four teams from the conference standings.  The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Regionals.

Fans can get their first look at the team during the Broncos fall games.  The first fall game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. at Stephen Schott Stadium.  The game is open to the public.
