SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the 16th member of its incoming recruiting class for the 2018-19 season, Matthew Calhoun. The middle infielder currently attends Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco where he will captain the Crusaders this spring.
"I chose Santa Clara over other schools because I felt Santa Clara is the right fit for me and also my family. When I went on my visit, I loved the campus and really connected with the coaches. I really like what they are trying to do in baseball and in all its athletic programs and cannot wait to be a part of greatness," said Calhoun.
Calhoun, a West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) honorable mention honoree last season, batted .321 and finished in the top-five in the league in stolen bases with 14 during his junior season.
"Matt comes from Riordan High School of the WCAL. He's very athletic and brings a lot of qualities. He's got good speed and is a very good defensive player. We are excited to bring him onboard," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.
Our next future Bronco, John Hanley, will be announced on January 11.
