Trasolini Named to All-District Academic All-American Team

Santa Clara sophomore forward Marc Trasolini has been named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American All-District VIII First Team. Trasolini, the only player from the West Coast and Pac-10 Conferences to be honored this year, is the second Bronco player in recent history to achieve the award after Henke was honored in 2007 and `08. His name will now be submitted for national Academic All-American honors.

"We are really proud and excited for Marc to be able to represent himself, his family and our team off the court by receiving this honor," said Bronco head coach Kerry Keating. "In addition to his teammates, he is committed off the court to his academics and his ability to balance his academic workload has helped him achieve this honor. It speaks well to his commitment academically, and our entire program, to have him represented on the All-District Academic All-American team.

"Marc is part of a team that has carried a 3.0 grade point average over the last calendar year so it's fitting that he is a representative with this prestigious group," added Keating.

Trasolini has a 3.41 cumulative grade point average studying Business in the prestigious Leavey School of Business. The Leavey School of Business began in 1926, and was one of the first business schools in the country to receive national accreditation. Its undergraduate business program is among the top in the nation (#35 nationally, and in the top three in California), its MBA program is #10 in the nation, and its Executive MBA is ranked 15th in the U.S. The School opened its new $49 million building for undergraduate, graduate, and professional business education in Fall 2008. "Marc is a very intelligent young man and a great representation of what it means to be a Santa Clara student-athlete. We are very proud of his accomplishment. He, as well as the rest of the team, have worked very hard in the classroom, as demonstrated by the teams' 3.0 plus average.," said Basketball Academic Manager Jason Stock.

Trasolini, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, leads the team with 13.9 ppg this season, including 13.1 ppg in league play. He also leads the team with 6.2 rpg and 1.8 bpg. Trasolini has hit double figures 19 times this season, including hitting 20+ in five games with two double-doubles (three career double-doubles). His 79 career blocks are already No. 5 on the all-time Bronco blocks list.

Trasolini is currently in the top 10 of six categories in overall WCC statistics. He is No. 2 with 1.8 bpg; , No. 7 in shooting .526 from the field; No. 8 with 6.2 rpg and with 2.2 orpg; No. 9 in free throw percentage at 80.5 percent; and No. 10 with 13.9 ppg.

Trasolini was named to the 2009 All-WCC Freshman team. Trasolini broke or tied three of his own, including the single season record for field goal percentage along with the freshman record, hitting 68.1 percent.

NOTE: Henke was also named the 2008 WCC Postgraduate Scholarship Award winner after he graduated from Santa Clara with a 3.7 cumulative grade point average as finance major.
