Santa Clara's Freshmen, All Named to All-WCC Freshmen Team, Trio Breaks or Ties 10 Bronco Records

March 13, 2009

Santa Clara, Calif. - While Santa Clara senior center John Bryant grabbed many of the headlines this season with his WCC Player of the Year campaign; the Bronco basketball looks very bright with the record-setting play of the freshmen trio of Kevin Foster, James Rahon and Marc Trasolini. The trio combined to break or tie 10 Bronco school records, including a record that has stood for more than 37 years. They also tallied up 16 20+ point games between them this season and were all three named to the five-man WCC All-Freshman team with Foster being named the Newcomer of the Year.

"It's one thing to have expectations coming into the season, it's another to exceed those, especially in your first season of college basketball," said Bronco head coach Kerry Keating. "James, Kevin and Marc were deserving of their inclusion on the WCC all freshman team, and we will continue to rely on them to lead our team into the future along with classmates Scott Thompson and Troy Alexander.

"While Kevin achieved shooting records earlier in season, James exceeded records as well that they now both hold and in keeping up a healthy percentage all the while, set precedents that could stand for as long as the previous ones did," continued Keating. "Marc's improvement over the season was not all too surprising, his efficiency resulted in great shooting percentages and the increase at the end of the season bodes well for increased production now that John Bryant has graduated."

"The best aspect of these players is that they remain humble, hungry, and team orientated; and I am certain that they would trade all the records to play in the post-season," said Keating. "That alone will be a motivating factor in their off-season skill and body improvement, and with a new class of freshmen on the way this summer, they will be counted on to lead by example."

The trio broke or tied the following school records:
