Men's Rowing Finishes Competition at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In the first action of the season, Santa Clara men's rowing had three boats compete at the San Diego Crew Classic over the weekend.

"Overall I thought it was a good start to the 2019 spring season," Santa Clara head coach Jay Farwell said. "We have a number of things to work on over the next month in preparation for Western Sprints. This coming weekend we have the Stanford Invitational where we will have duals with Oregon State, Stanford, and UC Davis."

The Varsity 8 ended in third place in the American Specialty Health Cup Final with a time of 6:08.248, just four seconds behind first place Purdue and two seconds off the pace of second place UC San Diego.

The 2nd Varsity boat came in fourth in the Sharp Memorial Cup Final at 6:31.174, 31 seconds off the pace of champion Yale.

In the 3V Final, the Broncos 3rd Varsity finished third in its final with a time of 6:44.835, 27 seconds behind champion Cal.

Santa Clara is back on the water this weekend at the Stanford Invitational at Redwood Shores.
