Full WCC Release

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golf had two players honored for their work in the classroom on Wednesday. Junior Tyler Kertson and Sophomore Hayden Shieh were both named to the 2015-16 West Coast Conference Men's Golf All-Academic Team.

To be considered for the all-academic team a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 GPA while also being a significant contributor to the team.

This is the second year in a row Kertson has been honored. He holds a 3.71 GPA as a finance major. Kertson competed in all 10 events this season and finished in the top-10 twice. He shot under par eight times with a low of 67 and finished second with a 7-under 209 at the Cabo Del Sol Intercollegiate (Oct. 4-6. He was the 2013-14 WCC Freshman of the Year.

Shieh has a 3.48 GPA has an accounting major. He competed in all 10 events this season and is expected to advance to NCAA Championships with 24th-best stroke average in the nation (71.65. The 2014-15 WCC Freshman of the Year had five top-10 finishes, including third place at the WCC Championships, and won the Cabo Del Sol Intercollegiate. He was named First Team All-WCC earlier this week.
