Men’s Water Polo Falls to San Jose State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Finn Pardon, Mark Kis and Ary Kamen each tallied two goals to help lead San Jose State to a 9-4 win over Santa Clara men's water polo on Friday.

The Spartans started fast by scoring twice in the opening minute of the game and then held the Santa Clara offense at bay.

A goal by Nicky Fontes with pulled the Broncos within 3-2 midway through the second quarter, but the Spartans scored the next four and didn't allow a goal for more than 16 minutes of action.

Goals by Gal Haimovic and Pardon within a 2-minute span of the third quarter increased the lead to 6-2 and Broncos were unable to close the gap.

Dominick Kirk, Matt Peterson and Matt McKim also scored for the Broncos who were only 3-for-15 with the extra attacker.

Yahav Fire went the distance in net for the Spartans. He earned the win after turning away five shots.

NOTES
• Goalie Chase Zamborelli was joined in the Santa Clara starting lineup by Matt Peterson, Jake Taylor, Blake D'Souza, Chase Raisin, Dominick Kirk and Cody Ferguson.
• For the second-straight game, Zamborelli and Sean Tehaney split time in net. Zamborelli had five saves and Tehaney six when he took over for the second half.
• Kirk had two assists to go with his goal and Peterson drew five kickouts.
