SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Supporters of Santa Clara Athletics continue to make a difference.

On Day of Giving, the school's annual fundraising initiative that was held on April 21, Bronco Nation helped support each of the school's 20 sports.

The department of athletics led all Santa Clara University units with 1,678 total gifts and finished second with $500,983 raised.

All gifts support the 'Stampede Together: Continue the Momentum Campaign' that launched in October 2020 to mitigate the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are incredibly grateful to our Bronco supporters who once again stepped up and put our student-athletes first," director of athletics Renee Baumgartner said. "The effort of Broncos everywhere on Day of Giving gave a huge boost to our fundraising campaign which helps us ease the financial impact of COVID-19 and help our student-athletes to continue to compete safely."

'Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives and Scholarships' was second with 418 total gifts and 'Student Scholarships' was No. 1 in dollars with a $1.1 million bequest.

Areas supported in athletics include sports medicine, academic resources, nutrition, COVID-19 testing, sports performance, and support for fifth-year scholarships.

"The support of our incredible donors and alumni is crucial in helping us get through these challenging times," Baumgartner said.

Among the school's sports, men's rowing led the way in total dollars raised ($50,000) while men's water polo had the largest number of donations (199).
