Bronco Athletics Has Another Strong Quarter During Fall 2020

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara Athletics posted another strong academic quarter during fall 2020 despite the ongoing challenges of distance learning.

The 398 student-athletes posted a term GPA across all sports of 3.41, led by a 3.74 from women's tennis.

Rounding out the top five for the women were golf at 3.71, cross country/track (3.67), rowing (3.59) and water polo (3.56). Soccer led the way on the men's side at 3.47, just ahead of baseball (3.43), water polo (3.31), tennis (3.26) and rowing (3.21).

All 20 teams improved their cumulative GPA from the fall of 2019. Women's golf has the highest cumulative GPA (3.66). Women's cross country/track (3.64) and women's tennis (3.64) are next on the list, followed by women's water polo (3.57) and volleyball (3.52).

The quarter highlights included: 

  • 324 student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher GPA for the term 
  • 214 student-athletes with a 3.5 or higher GPA for the term  
  • 107 student-athletes with a 3.8 or higher GPA for the term  
  • 41 student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA for the term

At the conclusion of the winter quarter, 170 student-athletes had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
