Women’s Golf Travels To Hawai’i For Anuenue Spring Break Classic

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's golf team returns to action this week competing in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic beginning Monday in Maui, Hawai'i. The 15-team event, hosted by the University of Hawai'i, will be contested on the Arnold Palmer and Francis Duane designed par-72, 6,022 yard Kapalua Bay Course.

The three-day, 54-hole event will feature a single 18-hole round each day with a shotgun start teeing off at 10:45 a.m. (PDT). Santa Clara, playing with Colorado, Long Beach State and Mississippi, will begin Monday on the 13th through 16th holes.

The Broncos have claimed three team titles and have not placed lower than ninth in their eight 2013-14 tournaments. They captured a share of the 14-team Grand Canyon Spring Invitational title on Feb. 25 in their first spring event and tied for seventh their last time out at the Juli Inkster Invitational on Mar. 4.

A highly competitive field is scheduled to compete in the three-day event with two top-15 and four top-50 squads among the 15 teams entered. Washington at No. 10 and Pepperdine at No. 15 are the top ranked teams according to the most recent Golfstat rankings. UC Davis (37) and Colorado (49) are among the top 50. The Broncos were ranked 105th by Golfstat on Mar. 19.

Freshman Annie Freman has won two titles and has been the team's top individual finisher eight times. She leads the Broncos with a 74.05 stroke average and has scored at or below par six times in her 22 rounds. She claimed her fourth top-5 finish of the year with an even-par 216 at the Juli Inkster Invitational to tie for the fifth spot.

Junior Kaci McCartan won her first individual title with a 1-under 215 at the Boise State Bronco Fall Invitational on Sept. 17 and has four top-10 finishes playing all 22 rounds this year. Her 76.59 stroke average ranks second on the team and her three sub-par rounds tie Freman for tops on the squad.

Senior Taylor Camany and sophomores Meghan Shain and Monique Riley make up the Broncos team for the event.
