SANTA CLARA, Calif.- It was announced today that the Santa Clara women's tennis team has signed high school senior Katie Le of Milpitas High School to join the Broncos next fall. Le is currently ranked 45th in the nation and ninth in the state of California, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
Bronco head coach Ben Cabell is ecstatic about Le's arrival, "We are very excited about Katie, she is a great student as well as a great athlete and she will be great with our team. During my four years as head coach here, she is the highest-ranked player that we've signed and several other programs have contacted me to congratulate our program on signing her. She is a perfect fit for Santa Clara."
In addition to her Five-Star recruit status on TennisRecruiting.net, Le was also recognized by the San Jose Mercury News as their Women's Tennis Player of the Year in 2008.
Le will join the Broncos in Fall 2010 with very high expectations. "We expect her to make an immediate impact to our line-up," said Cabell. "Since we will only have one senior graduating next year, we don't have to worry about replacing anyone. Katie will only add more to an already promising team and we are thrilled to have her next year."
Le was also recently named the San Jose Mercury New's Female Tennis Player of the Year for her undefeated season. Click here for the article.
