San Diego, Calif. – The Santa Clara women's tennis team defeated Gonzaga 4-1 today in the first round of the WCC Tournament, and is set to play the University of San Diego, ranked No. 1 in the tournament, tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.
During the regular season meeting, San Diego beat the Broncos 7-0, but Santa Clara is motivated towards a different outcome tomorrow at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego.
"We're looking to improve from last time," said head coach Ben Cabell. "We learned a lot from our first match in the season, and we are looking to make some improvements and play for a chance at the Championship."
