No. 65 Broncos Extends the Undefeated Home Court Winning Streak, No. 60 UCSB 5-2

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 65 Santa Clara men's tennis team extended its undefeated home-court winning streak to four with a 5-2 victory against No. 60 UC Santa Barbara on Mon., Feb. 21. The Broncos past six matches have been away and they returned home to grab the first solid win against a higher-ranking team in the season.

SCU will travel again to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to have a dual match against Cal Poly on Sun. Feb. 27. The first serve is scheduled at 1:00 p.m.

Following a competitive loss in the doubles point, with junior pair Kyle Dandan and Nicholas Vinel claiming the sole victory against Taylor Chavez Goggin and Alexander Konigsfeldt at No. 1 doubles action, 8-3,  the Broncos came back with five victories in singles actions to claim a 5-2 victory.

At No. 1 singles position, Dandan topped Konigsfeldt at the third-set, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. John Lamble, Nicholas Vinel and Tom Pham successfully defeated their opponents at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.  At No. 6 position, Eugene Muchynski scored a victory at the second third-set of the match against Santa Barbara's Philip Therp, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

"After losing the doubles point, I was impressed with the fight in our team to come back and win five singles matches," said Bronco men's tennis coach Derek Mills.
