Broncos Earned Program’s Best Final ITA National Poll No. 49

By Rico Chow '12,

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men's tennis team capped another successful season by finishing with a national rank of No. 49 and a Northwest Region rank of No. 5 in the final 2011 Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, released on June 8, 2011.

This is the highest end-of-season ITA national ranking in Santa Clara tennis history, moving up five spots from last year's final ranking of No. 53.

In the final Northwest Region's ranking, the Broncos earned No. 5 spot second-straight year after nationally ranked Stanford (No. 7), California (No. 14), Washington (No. 25) and Fresno State (No. 37). In singles, Kyle Dandan is ranked No. 13 in the region.

Building on the momentum of last year's record-breaking season in which the Broncos established themselves as a top 50 program, four Broncos earned spots on the All-WCC singles team in 2011. The team concluded the year with a 15-8 dual season record and SCU was 4-3 in WCC play. They were 9-1 at home this season and finished as the runner-up at the 2011 WCC Conference Championships for the second-straight year.

Go Broncos!
