No. 49 Men's Tennis Closes Out Regular Season with Two Home Matches

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 49-ranked Santa Clara men's tennis team will close out the final week of regular season play with its final home matches against the Western Athletic Conference foe No. 46-ranked University of Idaho on Sat., Apr. 16, followed by a match against the Big Sky Conference foe Sacramento State on Mon., Apr. 18. The Broncos are currently 11-7 on the season and 2-2 in WCC play.

The Broncos are coming off of two strong wins versus Gonzaga and Pacific. SCU defeated our West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga with a 7-0 sweep, winning all six singles points with Maxime Armengaud and Keith Kamono earning a clean sheet score of 6-0, 6-0. In its dual match against University of the Pacific, Santa Clara came out with a strong victory of 4-3 at the competitive match that resulted in five out of the six singles matches going into the third set.

Idaho is currently ranked 46th in the nation with a 16-4 strong season record (WAC 3-1) and will host Gonzaga University on Thursday before travelling to SCU to play the Broncos on Sat., Apr. 16 at 11 a.m. Sacramento State is 12-12 on the season (BSC 8-0) and looking to bounce back from losses in the past three matches against the nationally ranked opponents: No. 49 UC Irvine, No. 6 Pepperdine and No. 40 Cal Poly. They will play a dual match against Santa Clara on Mon., Apr. 18 at 3 p.m.  

The Broncos have been performing exceptionally well at home, posting a 7-1 season. They are looking to carry out its momentum from previous matches and its winning streak to enter the WCC Championships that runs from Apr. 21 to 23 at San Diego, Calif.
