No. 50 Men’s Tennis Finishes Last Away Match with a 4-3 Victory Over Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – The No. 50-ranked Santa Clara University men's tennis team finished its last away match of the season with a 4-3 victory against the Big West Conference foe University of the Pacific on Sun., Apr. 10. SCU advances to 11-7 on the season and 2-2 in WCC play.

The Broncos will host the last two dual matches of the season at the Degheri Tennis Center vs. Idaho on Sat., Apr. 16 and vs. Sacramento State on Mon., Apr. 18.

SCU won the doubles point under the pressure of tough matches. Bronco junior teammates Maxime Armengaud and Nicolas Vinel topped the Tigers' doubles pair of Lance Dugan and Fernando Ristow with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 spot.  At No. 2 action, Bronco teammates Kyle Dandan and Tom Pham earned an 8-5 win against Pacific's Ivan Gracia Castro and Alex Golding pair. The young pair of Eugene Muchynski and John Lamble suffered a loss at the tie-breaker point at the No. 3 position but Santa Clara gained an early lead in the match, 1-0.

The matches were competitive and long for both of the team at singles action with five out of the six matches' results were determined in the third set. Vinel dropped at No. 4 spot but Dandan and Pham carried on the momentum from the doubles play to top their opponents in the No. 1 and 5 action. At No. 2 and 3 spots, the Broncos' Armengaud and Lamble fought hard until the third set but suffered defeats by the Tigers' Krzyszkowski and Castro, respectively. SCU's Keith Kamono at No. 6 position defeated Pacific's Lance Dugan, 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, to put an exclamation point on the Broncos' last away match of the season with a 4-3 final score.
