SANTA CLARA, Calif. The No. 57 Santa Clara men's tennis team bounced back from a loss from two days ago against Saint Mary's to defeat the West Coast Conference rival Gonzaga University at the Degheri Tennis Center on Sunday. The Broncos are 10-7 overall and 2-2 in WCC action. Gonzaga fell to 5-13 overall and finished the WCC season 0-5.

The Broncos will travel to Stockton, Calif. to play against Pacific on Sun., Apr. 10 at 10 a.m.

SCU started off with two victories in the doubles action to secure the doubles point. Juniors Maxime Armengaud and Nicholas Vinel topped Gonzaga's doubles pair Scott Sullivan and Zhia HwaChong, 8-5, at No. 1 spot.  Bronco teammates Kyle Dandan and Tom Pham swept their opponent Conor Feeney and Muzeen Ismath, 8-1, at No. 2 position. Although Eugene Muchynski and John Lamble pair dropped a close match at No. 3 spot, 8-6, Santa Clara had an early doubles point lead over Gonzaga.

Carrying the momentum from the doubles action, the Broncos outran the Bulldogs without hesitation in the singles action. Dandan, Lamble, Vinel, and Pham defeated Gonzaga opponents fairly comfortably at No. 1, 3, 4, and 5 positions, respectively.

Armengaud defeated the Bulldog's Kevin Eischen with a clean sheet score 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 spot. Keith Kamono appeared at No. 6 singles position to top Gonzaga's Jake Davis without letting the opponent earn any game, 6-0, 6-0, to show his capability to become the Bronco starters.

"It's nice to get back on the winning track," said men's tennis team head coach, Derek Mills.

Go Broncos!
