SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The men's water polo team is off to a great start, posting a 3-1 record. SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) had a chance to catch up with Theo Nasser (TN) before the season opener and talked to him about his goals for this year. The Broncos talent this year ensures for a promising season.
SCB: During the off- season, what did you spend your time at home doing?
TN: This past offseason I was a coach for a local youth swim team. I worked 3-4 times a week when I was not in class or in the pool. When I could, I also try and go to Giants, Warrior, or 49er games with some friends year-round. Have to make time to represent Bay Area Sports, since we have the best in the country! From a pool perspective, we still train about four times a week in the water and three times a week in the weight room in the offseason. Pool practices are usually a little lighter than usual, but that is only because we focus on our sessions in the weight room.
SCB: What game are you most looking forward to this season and why?
SCB: How old were you when you started to play water polo and have you always made it a goal of yours to play in college?
SCB: What do you hope you and your team can accomplish this year?
TN: It is always a team goal to improve throughout the year and peak by conference championships. We are a very young team, and from the outside are seen as underdogs in the league. It would be great to upset some teams throughout the season, which would give us a strong seed going into the conference tournament where we can hopefully do some damage.
SCB: What is your favorite part about being on the SCU men's water polo team?
SCB: Describe your favorite speedo.
Go Broncos!
