Broncos Lose to No. 16 Princeton and No. 12 UC Davis on Final Day of SoCals

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Finishing day two at the SoCal Tournament with two more games vs. ranked opponents, No. 17 Santa Clara fell to No. 16 Princeton 13-8 and lost to No. 12 UC Davis 9-5. The Broncos record moves to 7-9 after the weekend in Santa Barbara.

Tucker Carlson continued to lead the offense by scoring five goals. Connor Brown and James Rude added two goals each and Matt Kochalko and Kyle Nadel added one apiece to round out the Bronco scoring. Goalkeeper John Nash had 12 blocks on the day while Matt Pritchett collected 10.

Santa Clara fell behind Princeton 2-0 after the first quarter and was unable to bounce back and take a lead. Carlson had a huge game to lead the offense by scoring five goals while Kochalko, Brown and Rude each had one goal to round out the offense. In net Nash and Pritchett each had six saves. Evan Chang and Rude added three earned ejections each.

Another slow first quarter doomed Santa Clara in game two of the day vs. UC Davis. After one period the Aggies were up 4-1 and outscored Santa Clara 3-0 in the third quarter. The Broncos won the fourth quarter 3-1 but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit and they lost 9-5. Bilz scored two goals while Brown, Nadel and Rude each had one. Chang also had two more earned ejections. Nash picked up six blocks and Pritchett had four.
