Two Broncos Honored as Women's Golf Coaches Association Academic All-Americans

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Known for its excellence on and off the field, two more Santa Clara student-athletes received academic honors on Tuesday. Kaci McCartan and Ashley Noda were named Women's Golf Coaches Association 2012-13 Academic All-Americans. The criteria for the honor are some of the most stringent in all of collegiate athletics with the minimum GPA being 3.50. McCartan has a 3.7 GPA as an engineering major and Noda has a 3.5 GPA as a business major.

"I couldn't be more proud of Kaci and Ashley on their WGCA All-Scholar honors," said Santa Clara head coach Krystal Kelly. "The difficult part of playing Division 1 golf, is missing school, specifically classes on Mondays and Tuesdays. They have done a great job communicating with their professors and staying ahead of their work-load. Go Broncos!"

This is the second consecutive year McCartan has been named a NGCA Academic All-American. She was also named to the 2013 WCC All-Academic Team.

This is the first academic honor for Noda who was All-WCC Honorable Mention this year as a freshman.
