Fresh off their season-opening sixth place finish at the Hobble Creek Invitational, the Santa Clara women's golf team returns to action Monday competing in the 10-team Boise State Bronco Invitational.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday at the 6,158-yard, par 72 Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna, Idaho. First day action is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. (PT) with Tuesday's final round teeing off 30 minutes earlier.
"We are all excited that we get to tee it up so soon after Hobble Creek," said fourth-year head coach Krystal Kelly.
At last week's Hobble Creek Invitational, the Broncos showed consistency with team scores of 308, 310 and a final round 309 for a tournament total 927. "The results from Hobble Creek are exciting and encouraging," Kelly said.
Freshman Annie Freman paced the team with a 12-over 225 to tie for 9th place in her first collegiate tournament. After an opening round 78, she played the final 36 holes at 5-over and had the best finish for a Bronco in the last six tournaments.
The four-time all-state performer at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, Nev., Freman was added to the Golfweek.com list of Players to Watch among Fab Freshman earlier in the week.
Senior Taylor Camany shot a first round 2-over 73 and finished in a tie for 18th. Each of her last two tournaments have resulted in top-20 finishes. Kaci McCartan and Meghan Shain both shot a 236 ending the tournament in a 31st place tie.
"Overall they looked really good," Kelly noted of her players. "Their games have matured so much over the summer, the chemistry is off the charts and there is just a very positive vibe within our program."
Sophomores Ashley Noda and Monique Riley will see their first tournament action of the season at the Bronco Invitational. Noda will fill in for Sadie Strain while Riley will play as an individual, according to Kelly.
