Last day of play, Thurs., July 25
Helped by a hole-in-one by Bronco sophomore Meghan Shain on Tuesday, the only one of the first day at the championship, the Bronco duo of senior Taylor Camany and Shain finished tied for eighth in the three-day 4th Annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championships in Powell, Ohio. The Championship was sponsored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association and is considered the most unique summertime national women's amateur championship.
The Bronco duo shot +10 today. Shain scored a 74 on the final day and Camany carded an 80 for a final score of 154. They finished +14 and were three strokes out of being tied for fourth. Shain and Camany teamed up to shoot 302 during the tournament.
"I'm really proud of Meghan and Taylor," said Bronco women's golf coach Krystal Kelly. "This is a great building block to preparing for this next season."
Liz Nagel and Trisha Witherby of Michigan State University shot +1 in the final day to finish with a score of 283, -5 under.
Second day of play, Wed., July 24

The Championship is sponsored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association and is considered the most unique summertime national women's amateur championship.
The Bronco duo carded a 70 on the second day, Wednesday. They are at +4 after the second day of play and are three strokes out of sixth. They have tallied a 148 in two days of play and 10 strokes out of the lead, but just five strokes from third and six from a runner-up finish.

Liz Nagel and Trisha Witherby of Michigan State University shot a 5 under par 67 (best ball) to extend their lead to four shots after the second round. Magel and Witherby carded five birdies and no bogeys and stand at 138 (-6) for the tournament. A.J. Newell and Chessey Thomas from the University of Tennessee stand in second place at 142 (-2). The other under par team in the Championship is the University of Iowa twosome of Lauren English and Briana Midkiff.
In the race for the NCAA Division II crown, Alicia Green and Madison Musick of Ashland University carded a one under 71 and lead the University of Findlay group of Kasey Petty and Michele Schambs by one shot.
In the NCAA Division III competition, the Olivet College team of Theresa Damico and Adrienne Plourde are tied with Jacqueline Carroll and Kelsey Smith of DePauw University at 155 (+11).
Forty-two teams return to action on Thursday morning for the third day of the Championship with tee times set to begin at 8:00 a.m. playing in an Aggregate Score format.
First Day of Play, Tues., July 24
They shot a 78 on the first day. Shain made her hole-in-one on the fourth hole. It was the lone hole-in-one on the first day. They also had a one birdie and five double bogeys.

Santa Clara's women's golfers are busy on the links this summer and this includes the duo of senior Taylor Camany and sophomore Meghan Shain. Beginning Tuesday, the two are playing in the three-day 4th Annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championships in Powell, Ohio. The Championship is sponsored by the Women's Golf Coaches Association and is considered the most unique summertime national women's amateur championship.
"This is a great opportunity for Taylor and Meghan to play as teammates during the summer," said Kelly. "It's rare you get to play this format in college. We are excited to see how they do and wish them the best!"
Camany was an honorable mention All-WCC selection in 2013 for the Broncos and a WCC All-Academic Team pick for the third straight year as well. She was second on the team with a 79.04 stroke average as 14 of her rounds were scored in the 70s. She had one top 10 and two top 20 finishes.
Shain competed in eight of 11 events, playing 21 rounds. She finished 19th at the West Coast Conference championship in her rookie campaign.
The 42 two-person teams competing comprise some of collegiate golf's top women. Each team will pair players from the same university in a 54-hole stroke play event. The host course, Wedgewood Golf & Country Club, is an 18-hole private facility, considered one of the most challenging courses in Central Ohio. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
The Bronco duo participated in a Collegiate-Amateur Golf event on Monday. The proceeds were to be donated to A Kid Again, an Ohio based charity that provides fun-filled group activities for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
