Camany, McCartan Named To WCC Women’s Golf All-Academic Team

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Senior Taylor Camany is the first Santa Clara women's golfer to be named to the West Coast Conference Women's Golf All-Academic Team three times and junior Kaci McCartan earned her second consecutive selection, the league office announced.

A four-year player from Salinas, Calif. (Salinas HS), Camany competed in all 11 events with 30 counting rounds this season compiling a 79.33 average and five top-20 finishes. She ended her career with a program record 98 rounds played.

Camany earned her third straight all-academic team selection with a 3.39 GPA while majoring in accounting.

During the 2011-12 season, Camany claimed her only tournament title with a one-shot victory in the Santa Clara Colby Invitational. She was named to the All-WCC Team and All-Academic Team following that season. She was given honorable mention All-WCC recognition this season for a third time.

McCartan, from Plano, Tex. (Ursuline Academy), had her finest season as a Bronco competing in all 11 events with the second-best scoring average on the team at 76.71, her first individual title and six top-20 finishes. She posted a two-shot win at the Boise State Fall Invitational in September with a personal-best score of 69 (-3) in the second round and a 54-hole low score of 215 (-1) to lead her team to its first of three tournament titles.

A mechanical engineering major, McCartan totaled a 3.81 GPA to earn her second consecutive selection.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
