Women's Soccer Comes From Behind Against Washington State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing its stretch of action against Pac-12 opponents, Santa Clara women's soccer came-from-behind to beat Washington State 2-1 Sunday afternoon and Stevens Stadium.

Washington State (1-1-1) took a 1-0 lead late in the first half and held on at the break but Santa Clara (2-2) scored early in the second before finding the game-winner midway through the period.

With the game tied at 1-all, Kelsey Turnbow sent a ball into the box that got to the head of Myah Baksh in the 75th minute. Baksh's shot was deflected but had enough spin to make it to the back of the net for the game-winner and the first of her career.

Trailing by a goal, the Broncos came right out of the break and knotted the score at 1-1. Maria Sanchez sent a beautiful pass from the left flank to the head of Kellie Peay who knocked the shot in for her first of the year.

After a tough first 40 minutes, the Cougars took the lead in the 41st minute off a free kick. Maddy Haro sent the ball into the box to Grace Hancock who put her head on the ball and send it just inside the far post.
