Softball Hosts Five-Team Santa Clara Round Robin

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After two weeks on the road, Santa Clara softball returns home to host the Santa Clara Round Robin beginning Friday. The Broncos will play games against Northwestern, Long Beach State, Grand Canyon, and Lehigh.

Last week the Broncos picked up a pair of wins over Stony Brook at the Lobo Classic, including a 13-3 win that saw them post a season-high in runs and hits. They fell to New Mexico three times over the weekend.

Santa Clara is 1-7 all-time vs. Northwestern, 1-10 all-time vs. Long Beach State, 0-4 all-time vs. Grand Canyon, and has never played Lehigh.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (6-14) is hitting .259 as a team with a .312 on-base percentage and a .310 slugging percentage. The Broncos have scored 63 runs with two home runs and 20 doubles.

Ellie Fisher leads the team with a .333 batting average, 12 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 10 tries. Kelsie Barnard is knocked in a team-high 12 runs and has three doubles to go with a .311 average. Morgan Modesto is hitting .328 with a team-best six doubles and Geenamarie Bonilla is hitting .328 with 11 RBIs and a home run.

Santa Clara has a 4.82 team ERA in 129 1/3 innings. Micaela Vierra leads the team in ERA (3.39), wins (3), innings pitched (43 1/3), complete games (2), and strikeouts (25). McCall James has tossed 29 1/3 innings in 10 appearances and Ciara Gonzalez and Aubree Kim each had a save in 28 2/3 and 28 innings, respectively.

THE WILDCATS
Northwestern (6-12) is hitting .254 as a team with a .325 OBP and a .330 slugging percentage. The Wildcats have scored 62 runs on five home runs, one triple, and 19 doubles.

Sabrina Rabin leads the team with a .359 batting average, 14 runs scored, and 11 steals in 14 chances. She has two doubles and four RBIs. Kenzie Ellis has knocked in a team-high 13 runs and has scored two with a home run and three doubles. Krista Williams has scored 11 runs and is hitting .279.

Northwestern has a 3.31 team ERA in 120 2/3 innings. Ellis has a 2.50 ERA in a team-best 42 innings. She has tossed two complete games and struck out 34. Morgan Newport has thrown 37 innings and has a save while Nicole Bond has a 3.87 ERA in 25 1/3 innings.

THE 49ERS
Long Beach State (7-13-1) is hitting .252 as a team with a .337 OBP and a .328 slugging percentage. The 49ers have scored 59 runs with six home runs, five triples, and 11 doubles.

Nichole Fry is hitting .362 to lead the team and has scored a team-high 15 runs with six doubles, two triples, and a home run. Sammi Gyerman is hitting .356 with four RBIs and five runs scored and Hannah Cookson is batting .327. Aniesa Maulupe has a team-best 13 RBIs.

Long Beach State has a 4.66 team ERA in 136 2/3 innings. Christina Clermont is 4-5 with a 3.48 ERA in 60 1/3 innings with 41 strikeouts. She has tossed three complete games and one shutout. Devvyn Magnett has a 4.17 ERA in 40 1/3 innings and two complete games.

THE LOPES
Grand Canyon (23-4) is hitting .332 as a team with a .389 OBP and a .472 slugging percentage. The Lopes have scored 156 runs with 14 home runs, nine triples, and 44 doubles.

Shea Smith leads the team with a .432 average and 25 runs scored. She has driven in 15 runs and hit eight doubles. Camree Wartman has driven in a team-high 27 runs to go with 11 doubles, dour triples, and two home runs while scoring 12 runs. She is batting .391. Bianca Boling and Kendsey Hill are tied for the team lead with three home runs each.

Grand Canyon has a 2.15 team ERA in 182 innings. Mariah Valencia leads the team with a 1.92 ERA in 54 2/3 innings with four complete games and a shutout. Taylor Nowlin is 13-1 with a 2.23 ERA in a team-hgih 78 1/3 innings. She has tossed nine complete games and has one save to go with 83 strikeouts. In 49 innings, Brianna Aguilar has a 2.29 ERA.

THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Lehigh (5-10) is hitting .254 as a team with a .325 OBP and a .315 slugging percentage. The Mountain Hawks have scored 42 runs with four home runs, one triple, and 10 doubles.

Rachel Timberman leads the team in batting with a .357 average. She has scored five runs and driven in one. Reva Alderman leads the team with 10 RBIs and has scored three runs while hitting .242. Ashley Cole has scored a team-best seven runs and is hitting .239 with six RBIs.

Lehigh has a 4.06 team ERA in 100 innings. Christine Campbell leads the team with a 4-2 record and 1.85 ERA. She has pitched 41 2/3 innings and tossed two complete games with 27 strikeouts. Emily Sorem has a 3.67 ERA in 34 1/3 innings and has one complete game.

Group discounts are also available through our ticket office sales and service consultants. Doors to Leavey Center, as well as its ticket office, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

Parking: For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot, located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to first pitch. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Due to CIF basketball and other on campus events, the Leavey Lot may be full Saturday.
