SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's water polo program signed driver Katie Radvanyi to a national letter of intent, head coach Keith Wilbur announced during the late signing period that began April 16.

"Katie is one of the top players coming out of the CCS this year," Wilbur said. "She has the talent and the work ethic to become an outstanding player in college. I am very excited that she has decided to come to Santa Clara. She will be a great addition to our team."

Radvanyi, who will be a freshman when she joins the Broncos in the fall, will rejoin former high school teammate and current Bronco freshman Alanna Simpkins.

Radvanyi is a product of Soquel High School. This past season, she was named first-team Central Coast Section, while also being awarded MVP of the Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League and of her prep team.

At the end of May, Radvanyi will travel to Florida for Youth Team tryouts, after being one of 13 players that made the Pacific Zone Youth Team this year.

As a junior, she was named second team All-CCS and to the first team SCCAL. Radvanyi also received Scholar Athlete of Santa Cruz County honors both as a sophomore and senior. Additionally, Radvanyi swam for Soquel High School and competed in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle and sprint relays at the CCS Championships.

Radvanyi has two siblings that are student-athletes. Her sister, Christina, just completed her senior season on Loyola Marymount's water polo squad, where the Lions won their third straight WWWPA Championship, while another sister, Theresa, is a sophomore on the cross country team at the University of San Francisco.

Santa Clara finished its season last week with an 18-20 record, and placed fifth at the Western Women's Water Polo Association Championships.
