WALNUT, Calif./AZUSA, Calif. — Santa Clara track capped another successful weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational with six of 12 runners setting personal best marks, including Mary Kriege's school record 10k run and Joey Berriatua's school record 1500 meter run. Kriege is the Santa Clara record holder in the 3k, 5k, and 10k track events.

"The team had a great trip. Every student-athlete that made the trip competed to the best of their ability on the day," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "There was a great competitive energy and everyone was feeding off their teammates' performances."

RESULTS — Mt. SAC Relays

Women's 3k Steeplechase: Grayson Murphy 10:48.21

Coach Montoro: "Graysee had another great effort in the steeple as she continues to gain experience and fitness."

Women's 10k: Mary Kriege 35:12.72 (School Record/PR)

Coach Montoro: "Mary Kriege had a breakout performance in the 10k. She just keeps getting more and more fit. She barely dipped under 18:00 for 5k in February and just ran back to back in 17:36. Her mark will be on the bubble for making it to regionals."

Men's 10k: Kurt Ruegg 30:24.35

Coach Montoro: "Kurt Ruegg continues to recover from a slight setback in his training last month and ran very solid. I'm looking forward to the next month as he keeps improving."

Men's 1500m: Joey Berriatua 3:49.35 (School Record/PR)

"Joey refocused his approach to racing and was rewarded with a new PR and school record in the 1500m. He doubled back a few hours later with a 3:52."

RESULTS — Bryan Clay Invitational

Men's 1500m: Joey Berriatua 3:52.25

Men's 5k: Ryan Greenough 15:39.52, Andrew Melendez 15:17.17 (PR)

Coach Montoro: "Andrew Melendez impressed in his 5k debut."

Women's 800m: Amia Nash 2:19.54, Hannah Wood 2:20.20 (PR), Meg Webber 2:24.01

Coach Montoro: "Hannah Wood ran really well in the 1500m, she closed fast."

Women's 1500m: Amia Nash 4:53.22, Hannah Wood 4:43.74

Women's 5k: Kelly Ryan 17:31.38 (PR), Kaitlyn Kuehn 18:16.52 (PR)

Coach Montoro: "I was so happy for Kelly Ryan. She ran a personal best in the 5k (17:31) but how she did it was most impressive. It was without a doubt her best-executed race at SCU. I was really impressed with Kaitlyn Kuehn's 5k debut."
