SANTA CLARA, Calif. — On this week's edition of the Bronco Weekly Sports Wrap, hosts and student-athletes Denzel Johnson and Nici Gilday get you caught up on Bronco sports from the first week of April.
Softball opened its conference season over the weekend. They had a walk-off win on Saturday vs. LMU and all three games were decided by three runs or less. EYEBRONCO spoke with Cassie Padilla, who had the game-winning hit Saturday, about the team's start to conference action. Softball is back on the diamond starting Saturday at Saint Mary's for a three-game set.
Women's water polo took down Fresno Pacific at home in a Gold Coast Conference tilt on Thursday. They scored six of the game's last eight goals to win 9-7. The Broncos are back in the pool Friday at Cal Baptist and Saturday at San Diego State in a pair of conference matches.
Sand volleyball picked up another win last Wednesday when the team took down Sacramento State 4-1. This weekend, the Broncos head to the USA Volleyball Collegiate Challenge in Hermosa Beach where they will complete against seven teams, four of which are ranked in the Top 5 of the most recent AVCA poll.
Baseball lost three games to San Francisco at Schott Stadium over the weekend. Take a look at some of Santa Clara's best defensive plays from the series. Broncos host San Jose State Tuesday and continue conference play when they head south to Pepperdine this weekend.
Track raced at the San Francisco Distance Carnival Friday and had four runners set personal best marks. Grayson Murphy ran a school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase and Mary Kriege set a school record in the 5000 meter race. EYEBRONCO spoke with the team about their spring season. The team has the week off before racing at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
The women's tennis team took down LMU last week on the road before falling at Pepperdine. They continue conference play vs. Saint Mary's on Friday and vs. Pacific on Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
Men's tennis fell to LMU and Pepperdine at home this weekend. They head out on the road for matches at Saint Mary's on Friday and at Pacific on Saturday.
Men's golf is playing at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale Monday and Tuesday of this week. It is the final regular season competition for the Broncos before the WCC Championship.
Women's golf also travels to Arizona for the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic on Monday and Tuesday. It is also the final regular season competition for them.
Following a successful regatta at the San Diego Crew Classic, men's rowing heads back out on the water Saturday at the Stanford Invitational in Redwood Shores.
