Bronco Athletic Director Dan Coonan pointed out every women's team has a 3.0+ cumulative GPA with 15 of the 19 Bronco teams scoring a 3.0 or better GPA during the Winter term.  "We have quite a streak going with 22 straight quarters of 3.0 or better – that's really impressive.  First, I tip my cap to the student-athletes for their outstanding achievements," said Coonan.  "Secondly, I applaud the coaches and staff who work with our student-athletes to set such a high bar academically everyday."

For the 12th straight quarter, the men's cross country team had the highest term GPA.  The men's cross country team raised their GPA from 3.479 in Fall 2014 quarter to 3.599 in the Winter 2015 quarter.  They also post the highest cumulative GPA in the department at 3.565.

"This group of student athletes have done an outstanding job of continuing the long standing tradition of academic success on the cross country and track teams at Santa Clara," said Bronco head men's cross country coach Felipe Montoro. "I am very proud of these student athletes and all the time and effort they put into pursuing excellence."

For the fourth straight quarter, the women's tennis team led the women's side with the highest GPA at 3.501 for the Winter 2015 quarter.  They also have the highest cumulative GPA at 3.405, edging out women's cross country, who carries a 3.319 cumulative GPA as a team.

"Our team did a wonderful job academically this past quarter as well as a number of previous quarters," said Bronco head women's tennis coach Ben Cabell.  "They put a lot of time and effort into both tennis and schoolwork and I am so happy that the results are paying off.  The winter is always a tough time with lots of travel and competition so their continued success is a tremendous accomplishment."

With nine of the 10 women's teams posting a 3.0 GPA or higher for the Winter 2015 quarter, 15 teams accomplished the feat last quarter.  Eight teams posted a 3.1 GPA or higher.  The 15 teams who posted a 3.0 or better GPA for the Winter 2015 quarter include: men's cross country, men's rowing, men's golf, men's soccer, men's tennis, men's track, women's golf, women's rowing, women's cross country, women's track, women's soccer, softball, women's tennis, volleyball and women's water polo.
