  • Doyle, Crutchlow of Men's Rowing Receive All-IRA Academic Honors

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. (DANBURY, Conn.) — Santa Clara rowing junior Christopher Doyle and sophomore Ian Crutchlow have received Intercollegiate Rowing Association 2014-15 All-Academic Honors for the Men's Heavyweight event, announced by the IRA Board of Stewards Thursday. Doyle and Crutchlow competed with Santa Clara as part of the IRA National Championship Regatta May 29-31.

  • Men's Rowing Concludes 50th Anniversary Season at IRA National Championships

    WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Santa Clara men’s rowing concluded its 2015 season as part of the Intercollegiate Rowing Association’s National Championship Regatta at Mercer Lake May 29-31. The Broncos’ Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 boats competed at the three-day event, with the Varsity 8 making its IRA debut as part of the team’s 50th anniversary season. The weekend’s competition marked the first time that Santa Clara sent a boat to IRAs in 14 seasons (2002).

The Bronco Varsity 8 boat, made up of six freshmen and two sophomores, will take part in the three-day event alongside Santa Clara’s Varsity 4 boat May 29-31 at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J.

    FOLSOM, Calif. — Santa Clara men’s rowing earned a spot in the IRA National Championship Regatta by way of a second-place finish from its Varsity 8 boat at Saturday’s Western Sprints Regatta in Lake Natoma. The Broncos completed the 2,000-meter race in 6:20.5, just one second behind the winning boat from Oklahoma City University.

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara rowing sophomore Ian Crutchlow and freshman Michael Brewer have been tabbed First Team All-WIRA selections for their performance as part of the Broncos’ Varsity 8 boat at April’s WIRA Championships. In addition to the accolades for the oarsmen, head coach Jay Farwell was named WIRA co-Coach of the Year alongside Arthur Erickson of Washington State.

  • Men's Rowing Collects Three Medals; Novice 8 Boat Takes Gold at WIRA Championships

    RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — Santa Clara men's rowing captured three medals, including one gold medal, at the WIRA championships in Lake Natoma last weekend. The crew's performance marked the second straight year of bringing home multiple medals from the event. The team's all-freshman Novice 8 boat won a gold medal, the Novice 4 boat won a silver medal and the Varsity 8 boat won a bronze medal. Each of the three medal-winning boats competed in a field of 13 or more crews.

Saturday and Sunday. Heats will be held Saturday through the middle of the afternoon and finals will follow on Sunday.
