SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara men's rowing will take part in its second and final race of the short fall season Saturday at the 15th annual Head of the Lagoon in Foster City, Calif. Four crews are scheduled to row for the Broncos: two novice 8 boats, one varsity 8 boat and a varsity 4 boat.

"This is a very challenging course in that the are a number of turns and bridges that need to be navigated," head coach Jay Farwell said. "This will be the first race for both of the novice coxswains so it will be interesting to see how they handle the guys and the course. I think they will do very well.

Coach Farwell on the Novice and Varsity Boats

"Since the Head of the American I have seen a lot of progress from our true novice rowers and I am looking forward to getting these guys on the water in a race setting to see how they perform. It's a great opportunity for these guys to see if they can apply everything they have been working on in a race setting.

"As for the varsity 8, we are going to have a different line-up than at the first race and I expect that the guys will improve on their prior effort at the Head of the American."
