STOCKTON, Calif. – Santa Clara University sophomore Rick Lamb remains the hunt for the tournament title at Brookside Country Club through two rounds of the 2010 Pacific Invitational. Lamb – the reigning West Coast Conference 'Freshman of the Year' – is tied for third after posting a 1-under par 70 on Tuesday.

Lamb tied for third at last year's Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Hawaii, his best finish to date as a college player. Lamb posted an opening-round 66 Monday in Stockton and is 6-under par for the tournament.

"Rick (Lamb) is avoiding the big number. He played without a double-bogey today," said Santa Clara head coach Rob Miller Tuesday. "Rick was playing at this level last season before getting injured. This is how he expects to play and if he stays healthy I think you will see him challenging for wins in the spring."

Santa Clara is tied for seventh as a team, with Cory Mehl posting an even-par 71 Tuesday to move into the tournament's top 25. Scott Travers is tied for 42^nd and true freshman Bobby Monaco tied for 44^th.

"We can move up tomorrow, it's doable," added Miller. "There are a bunch of teams jumbled up in the middle of this thing. A real good round tomorrow can get us into the top three or four."

The top-ranked teams at the event are No. 36 Oregon State and No. 39 Charlotte. The host University of the Pacific Tigers are the top team through two rounds, with Tiger' T.J. Bordeaux shooting a 10-under 61 to pace the 58-player field.
