SAN JOSE, Calif. - For the second straight year, two Santa Clara University student-athletes were honored by the San Jose Hall of Fame.  The dinner, held Nov. 16, honored Bronco freshman soccer forward Kelly Jenks as the High School Athlete of the Year and Bronco senior golfer Scott Travers as the Amateur Athlete of the Year.  In 2009, basketball All-American and WCC Player of the Year John Bryant was named the Male Amateur of the Year and volleyball All-American Anna Cmaylo was named the Female Amateur Athlete of the Year.

As part of the 16^th annual San Jose Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Arturs Irbe (ice hockey), Bruce Jenner (track and field), Keri Sanchez (women's soccer) and Dave and Mark Schultz (wrestling) were honored as this year's inductees.

Travers (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) was named the 2010 West Coast Conference 'Player of the Year' in May. He carried that momentum into the summer by becoming the first golfer since 1942 to win the California State Amateur Championship and the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) Amateur in the same year.

His title at the 99th California State Amateur came in La Jolla, California, then went on to break the all-time SCGA scoring record with a 16-under-par 268, previously held by Tiger Woods, who posted a 14-under-par 270 in 1994.  The SCGA Amateur-California State Amateur combo win has only happened three times in the events' simultaneous 99-year history: Dr. Paul Hunter in 1921, George Von Elm in 1925 and Johnny Dawson in 1942.

Travers finished the fall season in 2009-10 ranked 60th nationally by Golf Week and was among the NCAA leaders in scoring average (69.4).

Jenks (Palo Alto, Calif.) was named the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame High School Athlete of the Year.  She is a 2010 graduate of Palo Alto High School.  While in high school, she played soccer and softball and was a four-year letter winner in both sports.

She captained the soccer team in 2008-09 and was team's leading scorer in 2006 with 21 goals and 2008 with 24 goals.  Her team appeared in Central Coast Section (CCS) playoffs in 2006-08 and took second place in 2008.  She was named Santa Clara Valley Athletic League (SCVAL) Freshman of the Year in 2006 and Junior of the Year in 2008.  She was named to the All-SCVAL First Team three years (2006-08).  She was the 2006 CCS Freshman of the Year and an All-CCS Second Team selection in 2008 after being named an All-CCS Honorable Mention in 2007.  She was named second-team All-Palo Alto Daily News 2006 and first-team in 2008.  She was honored as the Palo Alto High School Female Underclassman Athlete of the Year in 2008 and the 2009 Palo Alto High School Female Athlete of the Year 2009.

Jenks played in 13 games this season for the Broncos, totaling 364 minutes. She scored two goals, including the game-winner in a 1-0 win over No. 15 Georgetown at home on Sept. 17 and the team's fifth goal in a 5-0 win over Gonzaga on Oct. 22.  The women's team advanced to the NCAA Tournament's second round before falling to No. 1 Stanford 2-1.
