Written by Brandon Rebboah '13, Men's Soccer SID

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara men's soccer team has announced its 2013 spring schedule and it features five games, including four at Buck Shaw Stadium. The Broncos are coming off of a 11-6-2 campaign in 2012 and have posted winning seasons in 24 out of the last 26 seasons.

The 2013 season will mark Bronco head coach Cameron Rast's 12th as Santa Clara head coach. Rast owns a 125-64-40 career record leading the Broncos.  With five collegiate games already scheduled, Rast hopes to add a club team and possibly an international match to the spring schedule.

Rast and the Bronco soccer squad will begin their spring schedule on April 12 with an away game against cross-town rival San Jose State. During regular season play, the Broncos hold a 23-20-4 advantage over the Spartans.

"The spring schedule gives us the oppurtunity to play some of the top collegiate teams in our area," said Rast. "The collegiate teams on our spring schedule are competitive and will help us get better. We are looking forward to testing our squad against some top talent."

After the lone away game on the 2013 spring schedule, the Broncos will return home for a match against Santa Barbara on Sat., Apr. 20 at 1 p.m. Last season, the Gauchos finished with a 10-6-3 overall record.

On Apr. 28 at 1 p.m. , the Broncos will play their alumni game at Buck Shaw Stadium followed by the program's golf tournament on Apr. 29. The golf tournament will be held at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose, Calif.

The Broncos will return to the pitch May 5 when they host UC Davis at 11 a.m. The Aggies were 10-7 last year and won the Big West North Division Title.

Finally, Santa Clara will close its spring schedule with a home match against Stanford on May 24 and Buck Shaw. Last year, the Broncos bested the Cardinal on the road in a 2-1 victory on Sept. 16.
