FRESNO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's tennis team fell to its second straight ranked opponent with a 6-1 defeat to No. 33 Rice this afternoon at the Wathen Tennis Center in Fresno. The Broncos are now 4-6 on the season.
"We tried new doubles combinations this afternoon and thought it went pretty well; we had a freshmen duo making their debut and they played with a lot of energy, something we've been lacking early on in previous matches," assistant coach Erich Chen said. "We battled in singles, but Rice is a very good squad all around. We're taking some lessons from this weekend and will look to get back on track next weekend."
The Broncos will play at San Francisco on March 2 prior to returning home to the Degheri Center to open a three-match homestand against Hawaii on March 4.
