Marie Bertholdt Invited to German National Team Camp

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Former Santa Clara women's basketball standout Marie Bertholdt was invited to take part in a training course and two qualifying matches with the German National Team. The team will convene Nov. 6 and play the Czech Republic Nov. 11 and Belgium Nov. 15.

Bertholdt currently plays for Marburg of the German Bundesliga. In six games, Bertholdt averages 9.7 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. She leads the team in shooting from the floor at 80.0 percent (16-for-20) and from the free throw line at 90.9 percent (20-for-22).

Bertholdt, a four-year starter and two-time All-WCC selection, scored 1,174 points in her Santa Clara career, good for 11th all-time. On Jan. 7 vs. LMU, she became just the 23rd player in Santa Clara history with 1,000 career points.

She finished third in Bronco history with 753 rebounds, second with 386 free throws, and fifth with 504 free throws attempted. Bertholdt also tied for the second most games played in Santa Clara history with 119, 115 of which were starts, and is fifth with 3,333 minutes played.

Bertholdt was born in Germany and moved to the U.S. at 11 months old. She holds dual citizenship and is fluent in German.
