SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing the toughest stretch of the year, Santa Clara women's basketball heads to Saint Mary's Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Last week the Broncos fell to LMU before picking up their first conference win at Portland 50-43.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 35-38 all-time against Saint Mary's with the first meeting coming in 1978-79. Last year the Gaels beat the Broncos three times with two coming by a total of five points.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (5-10, 1-3 WCC) continues to have the best defense in the conference by over four points. The Broncos allowed just 57.1 points per game and force 17.1 turnovers per game with a conference-leading 9.7 steals per game.

Ashlyn Herlihy leads the team with 9.6 ppg and adds 5.1 rebounds per game. Kyla Martin's 4.9 assists per game is tops on the team and she is second in scoring with 9.3 ppg. Morgan McGwire leads the conference with 1.8 blocks per game and leads the Broncos with 8.6 rpg and 2.1 steals per game while adding 9.3 ppg. Taylor Berry is second on the team with 6.4 rpg and scores 8.0 ppg.

THE GAELS
Saint Mary's (10-5, 3-1 WCC) has won three in a row with the last wto coming on the road. The Gales average 71.4 ppg on a conference-best 47.8-percent shooting from the field while shooting 31.2-percent from beyond the arc.

A trio of scorers lead the Gaels offense with Megan McKay's 14.5 ppg leading the way. She is second on the team with 6.8 rpg and shoots 56.8-percent from the floor. Sydney Raggio leads the team with 8.5 rpg and scores 14.4 ppg on 56.3-percent shooting. Stella Beck shoots 58.9-percent from the field while scoring 13.5 ppg. Beck, McKay, and Raggio are No. 1-3 in the league in shooting percentage.
