CHULA VISTA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf team raised a few eyebrows with their performance over the last two days at the Lady Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State at the Auld Course in Chula Vista, Calif.

As a team the Broncos fired rounds of 303 and 307 on day one of the invitational, breaking the program's scoring record of 309 that was set just two weeks ago at the Sacramento State Fall Invitational. Tuesday proved no different than day one as the Broncos shot a team total of 303 to finish the tournament with a two day total of 913, finishing seventh out of 21 teams and posting the best three round total in program history.

"I am very proud of the girls," said head coach Polly Schulze. "They have worked really hard to be able to post scores like this in tournaments. I realy think that we are starting to show the level that we can play at."

Samantha Trask was the low finisher for the Broncos, tallying a two day total of 8-over par, 224, after a final day score of 1-under par, 71. Trask was one of two SCU players to finish in the top-15 with her 12th place finish. The other was Meggie Fagundes who ended the invitational in a tie for 14th place with her 10-over par, 226 total. Fagundes carded a final round 77 on Tuesday.

Courtney Dimpel-Composti finished in a tie for 24th after a final round 77 gave her a two day total of 15-over par, 231. Candice Palmer finished just one stroke behind Dimpel-Composti with her final round 78 as her 232 total was good enough for a tie for 29th place.

Nikki Mack rounded out the Bronco scoring with her final round 81 giving her a three round total of 30-over par, 246, placing her in a tie for 75th. Paige Wilson competed as an individual for Santa Clara, posting a two day total of 262 following a final round 91 on Tuesday.

San Diego State won the Lady Aztec Invitational with a school record 54-hole team score of 878 (+14). The Aztecs shot 294 in Tuesday's final round and increased its winning margin to 13 strokes over second place Nevada.

SDSU freshman Jenna Wilson earned medalist honors shooting a tournament low five-under 67 to win by six strokes at five-under 211. The win is the first for SDSU's women since a win at the Heather Farr in October of 2000.

The Broncos return to action in two weeks at the University of Hawaii Invitational. The two day event will be held on November 3-4 at the Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawaii.
