Oahu, HAWAII - The Santa Clara softball team travels to Oahu, Hawaii for the Chevron Paradise Classic hosted by the University of Hawaii. Opening day is today as the Broncos take on Washington at noon at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The Huskies were ranked No. 6 by the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association 2003 preseason Top 25 college softball poll. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Broncos will play Louisville.
On Friday, the Broncos will face Oklahoma State at noon followed by Hawaii at 6 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday games will be played based on the results of competition from the previous two days.
The Broncos are coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Early Bird Tournament hosted by UC Santa Barbara, including wins against Illinois-Chicago and Long Beach State.
Pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau was named the Pacific Coast Softball Conference's first Pitcher of the Week for her performance at the tournament. She posted 21 strikeouts in17 innings and a 2.04 ERA to lead the team.
