SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The 2003 Santa Clara University softball team is inviting you to test your swing at the team's fourth annual Homerun Derby competition. The event will be held Wednesday, May 28, from 3-5 p.m. on Bellomy Field.
SCU students, faculty and staff, as well as fans of the program and the local community are invited to step into the batter's box and test a swing against three Bronco pitchers. Led by Pacific Coast Softball Conference Pitcher of the Year Jaime Forman-Lau, sophomore Kelley Johnson and freshman Liz Courter will also throw from the circle. Sophomore hurler Jennifer Ponzo is injured and will not participate. $5 will grant each participant five swings.

The Broncos finished their season earlier this month. Head coach Marcy Crouch was named the league's Coach of the Year after leading the Broncos to a second-place finish in the inaugural year of the PCSC. In her fourth year at the helm of the SCU program, Crouch guided the team through a milestone season, posting a record 30 victories, more than any other Bronco squad in the 25-year history of the program, and setting numerous season marks in the process.
