SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Playing at home for the first time in three weeks, the Santa Clara women's tennis team notched an emphatic 6-1 win over Cal Poly on Saturday.

"Great win, (I'm) really proud of us, we played really well today," said Head Coach Ben Cabell. "Cal Poly is a good team, so it's always good to get a convincing win."

Madison Clarke and Chelby Cooke started the match off well for the Broncos (4-4), taking their match 6-2 against Bryn Bacharach and Ilana Oleynik of the Mustangs (2-6).

The doubles point was decided by the partnership of Delphine Rouvillois and Zeina El Tawil with a 6-3 victory over Abigail Bacharach and Molly Reed.

In singles, all but one match went the Broncos way.

Cooke dispatched her opponent, Oleynik, on Court 1 by scores of 7-5, 6-2 and Clarke did the same on Court 2 with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph.

Tomorrow, Santa Clara hosts No. 39 South Alabama at 10 a.m.

"I think we set ourselves up really well for our match tomorrow," Cabell said. "It's going to be a different challenge, (South Alabama) is nationally ranked and they will present a different set of challenges and we're looking forward to it."
