Cross Country Showcases Depth at SFSU Invitational; Hosts Bronco Invite Saturday

SAN FRANCISCO —Santa Clara cross country showcased the depth of this year's group at the San Francisco State Invitational Friday afternoon. The Broncos, led by Austin Blankenship on the men's side and Elsa Valenzuela on the women's side, raced at Hellman Hollow Meadow for the third time in four meets this season.

Blankenship placed 40th overall in a field of 241 runners and the Bronco men finished in seventh place out of 20 teams.

"This was the fist time in years that we have been deep enough to score a men's and women's team at this meet, and I thought we did a great job collectively," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "Individually, Austin Blankenship rebounded well from his last race; he executed his plan with discipline and was really tough the final mile."
