NOTES

  • Santa Clara topped Portland 6-0 on May 27 to claim the program's first WCC Tournament title and the first championship overall since 1997, the last time they made the NCAA Tournament.
  • Dawson Brigman was named the Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Tournament team by Coleman Brigman, Efrain Manzo, and Brandon Gomez.
  • The Broncos will enter the postseason on an eight-game winning streak while having won 17 of their last 20. The 35 wins so far this season are the most since the 1997 campaign when the team won 41.
  • Santa Clara had eight honored on the All-WCC teams this season. Skylar Hales, Blake Hammond, and Michael O'Hara were named to the second with JonJon Berring, Coleman Brigman, Efrain Manzo and August Souza nabbing honorable mention. Thomas Ferroggiaro was named all-freshman.
  • Santa Clara is hitting .300/.403/.491 as a team with 379 runs scored on 103 doubles, 17 triples, and 72 home runs. The 72 home runs are a program record, topping 62 hit in 1984. The slugging percentage would be the highest in program history. The batting average and OBP are the best for the Broncos since 2010. They have their most runs (379) and hits (552) since 2010 and their most doubles (103) since 2014. They are 43rd and 41st in the country in batting average and OBP.
  • Michael O'Hara is hitting .323 with a .418 OBP while adding 11 doubles, three triples, and three home runs to go with 37 RBIs and 49 runs scored. Dawson Brigman is hitting .317 with a .416 OBP and 12 steals while adding 32 RBIs with 46 runs scored and 10 doubles, three triples, and six home runs. Efrain Manzo has a team high 17 home runs, the most by a Bronco since 2003, and 54 RBIs with 52 runs scored and is slashing .318/.418/.668. His 38 extra base hits are the most since 2002. His slugging percentage is the highest since 2003. His 141 total bases are the most since 2010. JonJon Berring is also hitting over .300 at .326 with 32 runs scored and 15 steals.
  • On the mound, Santa Clara has a 4.42 ERA, with 460 strikeouts against 184 walks in 476 innings.
  • The Broncos ERA is 32nd in the country. Their hits per nine innings of 8.34 is 27th nationally. Their strikeout to walk ratio of 2.50 is 29th in the country. The 3.48 walks per nine innings is 21st nationally. The team's 1.21 WHIP is 10th in the country.
  • Cole Kitchen's 78 1/3 innings and are the most on the team as are his 67 strikeouts. He has started 15 games and appeared in 16 with a 4.25 ERA. Skylar Hales has 64 punchouts in 51 1/3 innings and a 2.81 ERA with four saves. His 11.85K/9 is 37th nationally and first in the WCC. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4.69 is second in the conference and 39th in the country. August Souza, who has a 1.69 ERA, the lowest on the team, leads the way with five saves. Blake Hammond has appeared in 18 games out of the bullpen and thrown 46 innings with 64 strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA. Souza, Hammond, Brandon Gomez, and Jared Feikes lead the team with six wins each.
  • Gomez is 25th nationally with a 5.10 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 25th with a 1.67 walks per nine innings.
  • Blake Hammond won WCC Pitcher of the Week on May 1.
  • Brandon Gomez was named WCC co-Pitcher of the Week on March 20, giving the Broncos three-straight honors.
  • Santa Clara swept the WCC weekly awards on March 13 with Efrain Manzo being named the Player of the Week and Skylar Hales the Pitcher of the Week.
  • Cole Kitchen was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week on March 6.
  • Santa Clara's winning streak of nine games from April 23-May 7 was the longest streak since a 16-game stretch from April 11-May 2, 1997. 
  • The Broncos also had their first sweep of San Francisco since 2003 and the first home sweep since 2002, making it the first at Stephen Schott Stadium which opened in 2005.
  • The Broncos have four walkoff home runs and five walkoff total this year. Coleman Brigman hit a two-run shot in the 11th against Villanova on March 12. Efrain Manzo then did it on March 26 against San Diego, also in the 11th inning. Manzo did it again on April 25 vs. Cal Poly in the 10th. Robert Hipwell did it on May 6 against San Francisco. Michael O'Hara had a two-run single to cap a four-run ninth on May 18 against Gonzaga.
  • Since taking over before the 2018 season, head coach Rusty Filter is 8-1 against Cal Poly after sweeping the season series.
  • Santa Clara knocked off No. 2 Stanford on the road March 7.
  • It was the Broncos first win over Stanford since the finale of a four-game series in 2021. Santa Clara's last midweek win over the Cardinal came in 2016 and the last win in Palo Alto came in 2015.
  • On April 15, the Broncos welcomed back the 1962 College World Series team that finished as national runners up for a 60th anniversary celebration.
  • The renovations at Schott Stadium are complete. The renovations include a completely new turn playing surface, padded fence around the stadium, a new batter's eye, all new chair back seats inside the stadium, and a remodel of the VIP Suite and press box.
