Baseball Beats Arizona to Keep Regional Journey Alive

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – They're not done yet. Santa Clara baseball extended its season with a convincing 9-3 victory over Arizona on Saturday.

Cade Pilchard (4-1) was the star of the night. He led the Broncos (36-19) on the mound going 6-plus innings while allowing just one run on three hits with four strikeouts and no walks to collect the win. Jared Feikes got his first save by throwing the final 3 innings.

The offense was almost as good, scoring single runs in the first, second, and third innings and then adding on with six runs from the sixth through eighth innings.

Michael O'Hara, Efrain Manzo, and Eamonn Lance all hit home runs with Lance collecting three hits and O'Hara knocking two with two RBIs. Dawson Brigman also added two hits and scored twice.

The Wildcats (33-26) finally got on the board in the seventh when Emilio Corona hit a solo home run. He finished the day with two hits and two runs scored. Mason White had a pair of hits, including a two-run home run in the ninth to account for the rest of the runs.

Aiden May (5-3) ended up with the loss in a 4 2/3 inning start. He gave up three runs, two earned, on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.

The Broncos will play the loser of TCU vs. Arkansas, set for tomorrow at 612 p.m. Pacific, tomorrow at 6 p.m. Pacific in another elimination game.
