Quick Hits...
• The Broncos, led by ninth-year head coach Kerry Keating, are in the midst of three straight home games as they face Arkansas Pine Bluff on Tuesday. With finals in session this week, the schedule has been light with just one game in a 12-day span. Santa Clara played four games in seven days last month at the Wooden Legacy.
• Junior guard Jared Brownridge, a two-year starter, leads the team in scoring at 17.0 points per contest, which is third in the WCC. He is also the team's top assist producer at 2.8 per game and ranks second in rebounding (career-high 4.7 pg). Junior forward Nate Kratch, leads the Broncos in rebounding (9.1 pg/third in the WCC) and field-goal percentage (65.1/first in the WCC). Kratch's 29 offensive rebounds lead the league.
• Despite playing just two seasons, Brownridge already ranks seventh in school history with 204 career 3-pointers made and 25th in scoring (1,229 points). In addition, his career scoring average (16.6 ppg) ranks No. 6 on the Broncos all-time chart and his career 3-point field-goal percentage (41.3) is tops in school history. After missing most of preseason practice Brownridge, however, has not been as accurate in the early going this season, connecting on 31 percent of his field goals, including 26 percent from beyond the 3-point line. But he has only turned the ball over just 19 times on the year, despite averaging 35.8 minutes a game (second in the WCC) while being the focal point of the offense.
• The Broncos have four players on the shelf. Sophomore guard Evan Wardlow is the newest addition to the injury list. He missed the San Jose State game and is out of action for approximately two months after being diagnosed with a broken right wrist. Sophomore forward Jarvis Pugh (knee) has missed the last three games, junior guard Brendyn Taylor (concussion) has missed the last five, and freshman forward Tony Lewis (leg) has not played this season.

Trends...
• After connecting on 34.1 percent from the field, including 25.1 on 3-pointers, in the first five games, the Broncos are hitting 44.9 percent (32.9 on 3-pointers) in the most recent four contests. Two of their three best shooting performances occurred in the last two outings (50.8 vs. San Jose State; 44.0 vs. Boston College).
• The opposition connected on 38.2 percent from behind the 3-point arc in the first five games, but has been held to 22.3 percent in the last four contests. The Broncos held Arizona to a season-low 13.6 percent on 3's (3-for-22).
• During the last three games, Nate Kratch is averaging 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. He has hit 24 of his last 29 field goals attempts (82.8 percent).
• In the last two games, freshman guard KJ Feagin has averaged 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

Kratch Claims WCC Player of the Week...
After a career night in the victory against San Jose State (Dec. 5), Nate Kratch was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Kratch posted his second double-double in as many games with a career-high 29 points and 12 rebounds to leading Santa Clara to a thrilling 78-75 win vs. the Spartans. Kratch hit 13 of 15 from the field (86.7 percent), including all eight of his second half attempts and the final three of the game for the Broncos, who won for the second-straight time. The junior scored three baskets in the final 2:21 of the game. He extended a 70-69 lead with a jumper in the lane and then added a pair of gritty layups, including the winning bucket with 48 seconds on the clock.

Scouting the Pioneers...
Pacific Union is off to a 4-2 start after posting an 11-17 mark last season. The Pioneers, who play in the NAIA, finished third in the Cal Pac Conference in 2014-15. Senior guards Mike Hill and Jaron Crump have led the offensive attack. Hill is scoring a team-high 20.3 points per game, while Crump is second at 19.6 ppg. Chris Dorsey, a 6-foot-10 freshman, is the leading rebounder at 6.6 per game. The Broncos and Pioneers will be meeting for the second time. Santa Clara downed Pacific Union, 77-42 on Dec. 8, 2012 in Leavey Center.

Kratch Among Select Company...
Only 12 players in the NCAA this season have hit a higher percentage in a single game (minimum 10 attempts) and only one has connected on a better percentage with at least 15 attempts than Nate Kratch did vs. San Jose State (Dec. 5). Kratch connected on 13 of 15 field goals (86.7 percent) vs. the Spartans and Evan Bradds of Belmont went 14-for-15 (93.3) vs. South Alabama on Nov. 23.

Notables...

• Kratch and Feagin have been the team's most accurate shooters. Kratch has connected on 65.1 percent from the floor (first in the WCC), including 82.8 in the last thee games, scoring mostly in the paint, while Feagin has hit 53.4 percent of his field-goal attempts on a mix of drives and jump shots. Forward Jarvis Pugh has connected on 52 percent from the floor, though he has missed the last three games.

• Brownridge and Kratch are the only players to start all nine games. Freshman forward Henrik Jadersten started for the first time in his career and sophomore guard Evan Wardlow made his first start of the season (second of his career) vs. UC Irvine (Nov. 23). Wardlow went on to start the next three games. Healy made his first start of the season (second of his career) vs. San Jose State (Dec. 5). Healy has also averaged 11.0 points over the last two games.
